Harrison's Independent Research Project

Harrison decided to do chicken incubation as his independent research project. Three weeks ago he chose some eggs from our hens and put them in our homemade incubator.  The eggs needed to be at kept at 100 degrees and 50% humidity and also needed to be turned 3-5 times a day.  The markings on the eggs indicate which eggs Harrison thinks are fertilized and growing after candling them.  WOW, who chose this project?

Who knew our family vacation would occur during this project?  After finding an adapter for the lilght, the eggs made a journey to Sunriver with us.

At 4 Am this morning I heard some very LOUD chirping.  We have a chick!  Yes, I did wake Harrison up so that he could enjoy the show.

The chick, PowerChick, is now fluffy and happy to be out of that shell.

One out of 12?  Not sure those are good odds at all.  What are we going to do with ONE chick?

Anybody want a chick?
