Here is PowerChick, PC for short, longing for some company. Why won't these chicks hatch?
Harrison and I took a fieldtrip to a hatchery in Hubbard where he asked a lot of questions about incubating eggs and where oh where had we gone wrong...
This is one of their many incubators that holds hundreds of eggs. This hatchery incubates 6 million eggs a year. WOW! For every dozen eggs they incubate, they get 10 chicks.
Well, our hatchery guide said Harrison had taken great care of his eggs and she was surprised he didn't have a better success rate. She suggested that we try again. To that I said, " We'll just take some chicks please." Harrison thought we needed some turkeys so two of our baby chicks are a bit larger than the others. Aren't they just adorable.
