Mt. Bachelor

The Chandler Family went on a little hike on Mt. Bachelor in central Oregon today. It was in the mid-80's and beautiful when we started from the parking lot below, but grew chillier as we climbed...

By the time we got to the summit (9,000'), the wind picked up with 30-mph gusts and the temperature dropped into the 40's...so, of course, boys want to take their shirts off!

Huck Finn

Grandpa built a small wooden dock (supported by plastic barrels) to help launch the kayaks. Shockingly, one of our sons saw this as an opportunity to play Huck Finn: disconnected the ropes, added a small battery-operated motor, and rigged up an anchor. With this kind of mobility, it seemed only obvious that the dock should be turned into a movable island for camping out.

This is a picture of what the dock looked like at 6am one morning, with 4 boys camping inside. NOTE: if Lisa Price is reading this, then Spencer is NOT one of them...we would not subject your son to such danger!!

ST. PAUL RODEO

We have never been to a rodeo before, so when our good friends, The Crafts, invited us to go, we said, YeeeHaaaw!

We had a wonderful time watching the bull riding, wild horse riding, and barrel racing.

Of course, I said we went with the Crafts, so the rodeo was merely the backdrop for silliness.
Kelsey and Kennedy.

Stephanie and lucky Harrison.

Enjoying some cotton candy together...
Enjoying the empty cotton candy bag together....

Oh, the fun you can have with an empty plastic bag.

Yes, Whitney, Lindsey, Pam and Rob were there too, we will have to get some photos from them of the whole gang. I seldom remember to take a picture.

Thank you Crafts for fun times!

Newport Marathon

First, I apologize for leaving the Cinco de Mayo day post up for sooo long. What an uncomfortable post to see each time you check in. SORRY! Second, I will be catching up on posts next week so get ready for some new photos. And third, the Newport Marathon.

Tim and BQ Sarah ran the Newport Marathon. Kennedy, Harrison and I were able to drive down and cheer them on the last mile and greet them at the finish. Here is Harrison helping Aunt Sarah get through that last obnoxious 1.2 miles.

Here are the finishers. Looking good! BQ Sarah qualified for Boston, hence the BQ (Boston Qualifier) that comes before her name. It's like getting a Doctorates for goodness sakes. Tim will qualify as soon as his age catches up with his time.I am still amazed he even ran after running the Grand CAnyon and living off 3-4 hours of sleep each night for the last week or so. What an athlete!

CONGRATULATIONS TIM AND BQ SARAH!

5 pounds

Tonight after his track meet, Jefferson and some buddies went to Taco del Mar for some dinner. Jefferson decided to eat the 5 pound burrito because if he ate it all, he would get his money back. He finished all but about a pound of it, and came home painfully full.

Well, he just lost his 4 pounds of burrito into our empty duplo bucket. He feels much much better now.
