Rosalia funebris

Harrison and Aunt Sarah found this exotic looking beetle in our blueberry patch. They did a little research and came to the conclusion that it is a Rosalia funebris, or a balck and white banded alder borer beetle. It's cute isn't it.

Fourth of July

We had the annual blueberry pancakes at mom and dad's and then later everyone came over for Grandpa's homemade ice cream, bbq, dip in the pool, and then watched fireworks from the river.

I didn't think to take pictures until Peyton got in the pool.

Harrison's Baptism

Funny boys with their mighty muscles.

These young ladies provided much of the musical needs for the baptism. Olivia Roane and Kennedy were the choisters and Kimi and Kennedy played an original piano number that they wrote, "Baptism Dance". They will record it for us and I wil try to attach it to this post. It was very sweet and so thoughtful.

Peace Play

Jackson's class has been studying peace this year. As a class they discussed ways that they, as individuals, could make a difference in their communities. The class presented their ideas and studies in an original play. The following two photos are Jackson and Tucker poised and ready to begin their "sign language" interpretation of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". And no, they don't know sign language.  I really like Jackson's bedazzled jacket.

The eighth graders:

The eighth grade class, each being individually recognized by one of their guides, Susan.   This was Jackson's turn.  Susan commented on his strong sense of justice and his enormous love of trees.  And his love of her dog, Lela.
