This past weekend we traveled up to Seattle to watch Jefferson run at a cross country invitational. We were joined by the Bennetts and the Pratts. It was a very fun event to watch since Jefferson placed 2nd!! Way to go Jefferson! To make it even better the weather was beautiful. THANK YOU Micah for taking photos of this event for us!

Father-Sons' Campout
September 20, 2008: Father-Son's Campout at Champoeg Park
In a (failed) attempt to eradicate a swarm of bees from the hollow trunk of a fallen tree, Jackson, Jefferson, Jamie (Ellery), and Spencer (Price) used their "fire-starting" skills (i.e. a match) to "smoke 'em out"... It only took 5 professional firefighters (thanks, City of St. Paul!!), 2 park rangers, and a dozen "sons" to put the fire out 12 hours later. Sarah, who was in the park to run a half-marathon but didn't know that we were camping there, was amused to hear about the "careless Mormon kids" who had set fire to a tree!
Fine paid to Oregon State Parks: $97.
In-person demonstration of how "fire-suppressing spray foam" works to 30 little kids: Priceless!

Our Little Entrepeneur
OK, here is a funny story: Harrison is a curious little soul. He has successfully sold his nasturtium flowers to a local restuarant through our neighbor. Harrison has made $14.00 so far this summer on this little venture. But don't worry, it's not all about money...he harvested 15 cucumbers and took them to church and gave them away. While I wish he had not done so in the chapel, it was entertaining to watch all of the people with cucumbers during our meetings. He now has several offers for his cucumbers.
